About this site

What this site is

A plain-English guide to one scheme: the Warm Homes: Local Grant, which pays for insulation, solar panels, batteries and low carbon heating in low-income households' homes in England, delivered by councils from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2028. The guidance behind it is long and written for councils. We turn it into answers a household can use: who qualifies, what it covers, which council runs it where you live, and how to apply through the official route.

Two tools on the site use the government's own data directly: the council lookup, built from the GOV.UK list of successful local authorities, and the postcode checker, built from the DESNZ list of 254,014 eligible postcodes. Both run in your browser; nothing you type is sent to us.

What this site is not

  • Not the government or a council. We have no role in deciding applications and no access to council systems.
  • Not an installer or assessor. We do not survey, fit, sell or guarantee anything, and we hold no trade accreditations. When we mention TrustMark or MCS, it is so you can check the firms you deal with.
  • Not a way to jump the queue. The grant is applied for through GOV.UK or your council, and it is free. Nobody, including us, can speed it up or guarantee it.

How the site makes money

If you choose to send an enquiry through one of our forms, we pass it to relevant independent firms that cover your postcode, such as retrofit, insulation, heat pump or solar businesses, who may contact you for a second opinion or to quote for work outside the grant. Those firms may pay for introductions. You are never charged, you are under no obligation, and you do not need to use the form to use the site or apply for the grant. Our privacy notice explains what happens to your details.

How we source and check facts

Every figure on the site comes from a primary source and is stored in one place with its source and the date it was read, so it can be updated everywhere at once. Scheme rules change: the cost caps rose from £15,000 to £16,600 each in June 2026, for example. We re-check the official pages regularly and date every page. The main sources are:

If you spot something out of date or wrong, please tell us through the contact form and we will correct it.

Who publishes it

Published by SEO-DONS LTD (company no. 16766013), 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. You can check the company on the Companies House register. We do not take phone calls; the contact form is the way to reach us.

Want a second opinion, or help with what the grant will not cover?

Apply for the grant itself through the official GOV.UK service or your council: it is free and you do not need a go-between. Use this form if you would also like independent retrofit or installation firms that cover your postcode to contact you, for a second opinion, a quote for work outside the grant, or options if you do not qualify. We pass your enquiry on. We cannot approve, speed up or guarantee a grant.

What happens next

  1. We read your enquiry and check which kind of firm can help.
  2. We pass it to relevant independent firms that cover your postcode.
  3. They contact you with questions or a quote. You compare, and decide — with no obligation to go ahead.
Add a little more detail (optional — helps the right firm reply)

We share your details only with the firms we pass your enquiry to, and only for this enquiry. This site is an independent guide — not an installer, assessor or scheme administrator. See our privacy notice.
