Home energy upgrade enquiry: second opinions and quotes
This site is an independent guide, not a council, a government service or an installer. The Warm Homes: Local Grant is applied for through GOV.UK or your council and costs nothing to apply for. If you also want independent firms to contact you, for a second opinion on what you have been offered or a quote for work the grant will not pay for, tell us about your home and we pass your enquiry to firms covering your area.
- No charge to you for the introduction.
- No obligation to accept any quote.
- Check any firm yourself before you sign — our guides show which register to look up.
When an enquiry can help
- A second opinion on a package you have been offered, before you agree to it.
- Work the grant will not cover, such as a measure the retrofit coordinator did not recommend, or a home that is rated C or above.
- A landlord's 50% share on a second or later rental, or homes that do not qualify.
- Self-funded upgrades if you are not eligible or your council has a waiting list. Installing insulation, heat pumps, solar and batteries in a home is zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027.
What happens to your enquiry
We read what you send, work out which kind of firm is relevant (for example an insulation installer, a heat pump installer or a retrofit coordinator) and pass your details to firms covering your postcode. They contact you directly by email, or by phone only if you gave a number. You can tell any of them you are not interested, and you are never charged by us. Mention if your council has already surveyed your home or offered a package, so a firm giving a second opinion knows what to look at.
Before you send it
Have your postcode and, if you know it, your home's EPC rating to hand. Say whether you own the home, rent it privately or are a landlord, and whether any work is already planned under the Warm Homes: Local Grant, ECO4 or the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, because the same measure can never be paid for twice.
If you only want the grant itself, you do not need this form: apply through GOV.UK or your council. Check any firm that contacts you on the TrustMark register, and for heat pumps, solar and batteries the MCS register. How to check.
Your enquiry
All fields except name, email and postcode are optional.
What happens next
